After a disapointing finish at last week's Regional Championships where he only cleared 13 feet, Matthew increased his personal best by a foot to win the boys pole vault event at the State Meet. He jumped 15 feet beating the second place finisher by six inches. Matthew is a sophomore at Deep Run High School. Last year at the State Meet he was the only freshman to clear a height when he tied for 10th place with a jump of 12'6.
