"Mills Godwin nor Patrick Henry may have to wait long for replacements in the graduation of the state's top two vaulters in Anne Marie Gordon and Anne Powell with Caitlin Walton and Lizzie Powell already matching or exceeding their mentors freshmen year bests in the vault."

"Her brother Buck was a solid distance runner for Mills Godwin, but Caitlin Walton is going to make a great pole vaulter as she has already established herself as a quick predecessor to one of Virginia's all-time greatest pole vaulters in Anne Marie Gordon graduating. Fellow Godwin teammate in freshmen Walton has big heights to follow set by an over 12 footer in Gordon, but equaled Gordon's freshmen year best of 10'6" by clearing the height twice at the district meet as well as the MileStat.com Gala. Two of the state's best vaulters this year were 12 footers Gordon and Patrick Henry's Anne Powell. The apple will not be falling too far from the tree in future years as Powell's younger sister Lizzie Powell, another Central Region freshmen had the second best height among ninth graders this year at 10'3".  The pair of graduating seniors and pair of top freshmen are all coached under Val Osipenko."

A new Xtreme Heighter Caroline Poma of Henrico High School is ranked 9th among freshmen with a current best of 8 feet.
