Anne Marie, just two weeks back from an injury and going from a short approach, qualified for the State meet with a fourth place finish with a jump of 10 feet. She jumped the same height as the 2nd and 3rd place finishers but had more misses getting there. Great job Anne Marie and good luck next week at States! The girls' Regional Meet record is still held by Kira Barcus of Atlee. She set it in 2002 with a jump of 11 feet 9 inches. On the boys' side we had some personal bests and school records. Kevin Brinkley, a senior at Douglas Freeman, won the pole vault title with a jump of 14 feet 3 inches. This was a new personal and school record. He was followed by Matt Armentrout, a freshman from Deep Run, who tied for 4th place with a jump of 13 feet. They both qualified for the State meet next week. Robby Dodson, sophomore at Douglas Freeman, set a personal record as well, with a jump of 12 feet, placing 7th in the event. Great job everyone!
